SMES is a regional homeland security exhibition and conference that takes place every other year starting 2009. SMES covers internal security, border security, infrastructure and critical structure security, and counter terrorism.
SMES 2009 was held under the High Patronage of the Lebanese President General Michel Sleiman, and received the absolute support of both the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and Internal Security Forces (ISF).
Senior delegations from Interior Ministries and Internal Security Forces of Arab and friendly countries in the region attended SMES 2009. SMES 2009 was a big success on all levels:
